Collision between two vessels near the port of Culatra island causes minor injuries

Two boats, one Maritime-Tourist and a support boat for a sailboat, collided last night, June 29, near the port of Núcleo on the island of Culatra, with only one minor injury to be registered. 

According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), the alert was received by the owner of the Maritime-Tourist vessel, at 22:30, informing that it had collided with another vessel. Elements of the Local Command of the Maritime Police and the Captaincy of the Port of Olhão, crew from the Lifeguard Station of Olhão, as well as elements of INEM were immediately sent to the site.

«The collision resulted in a slightly injured person, who fell into the water, who was promptly rescued by the Maritime-Tourist vessel, and transported to land, where INEM elements were waiting, who assisted him and later transported him to a hospital unit», explains the AMN.

Vessel owners have been notified and cannot sail until an inspection is carried out to prove the conditions of navigability.

The Olhão Maritime Police Local Command took care of the incident, and a maritime claim process was initiated to determine the causes of the accident.
