112 operators, supported by 35 vehicles, are already fighting the fire that broke out in the middle of the afternoon on Friday, the 12th, in a bush area in Almada de Ouro, in the parish of Azinhal (Castro Marim).
Means have been being reinforced at the site, as the flames do not let up, mainly because of the strong wind that is blowing.
CDS source told the Sul Informação that there are now “two active fronts, one towards the town of Junqueira and the other towards the Guadiana river”.
The alert was given by popular people at 16:21 pm.
The thick column of smoke is already visible from tens of kilometers away.
This afternoon, other fires broke out in several places in the Eastern Algarve, namely in the parish of Luz de Tavira and Santo Estêvão and in Asseca (Tavira), as well as in the Pocinho site, in Vila Nova de Cacela (Vila Real de Santo António) , but were promptly subdued by firefighters.
