“European funding for arts and culture” presented to cultural agents in the Algarve

Session will focus on the Culture Strand, which covers all sectors of culture and creation

The Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve (DRCAlg) and Europe Direct Algarve promote, on the 18th and 19th of May, training sessions on “European funding for the arts and culture”, from the Europa Criativa program, which will take place in Castro Marim , Faro and Lakes.

The information sessions are addressed to professionals and entities active in the cultural and creative sector, cultural associations, public bodies, such as municipalities and parish councils, companies in the creative area (architecture, design, fashion, among others) and publishing, as well as universities and other educational establishments.

With the participation of Sara Machado, from the Creative Europe Information Center in Portugal, the session will focus on the Culture Strand, which covers all sectors of culture and creation (with the exception of the audiovisual and cinematographic sectors), to present the different lines of funding, «since it is considered fundamental to raise awareness of the importance of European funding for culture and the arts as an essential way for anyone looking to internationalize work in this area, gain scale and visibility», stresses DRCAlg.

The first informative session will take place in the Auditorium of the Municipal Library of Castro Marim, on the 18th of May, from 11:00 am to 13:00 pm, and the second, at the Municipal Auditorium of Lagos, on the 19th, from 15:30 pm to 17:30 pm. Participation is free, but registration is required through the link https://forms.gle/Gzgmih7yteVPhSnK7

On the 19th, a workshop will take place, from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm, at the headquarters of DRCAlg, in Faro, which aims to work on practical aspects in the formulation of European projects.

From the search for international partnerships, to the most common errors in applying to Creative Europe, this session will provide participants with guidelines for filling in forms, as well as basic knowledge transversal to the universe of European programs to support culture and the arts.

Participation is free, limited to a maximum of 20 participants, with prior registration through the link https://forms.gle/Gzgmih7yteVPhSnK7

Creative Europe is the European Union's exclusive support program for the cultural and creative sectors. The new cycle runs from 2021-2027, with a financial framework of around 2.44 billion Euros, an increase of around 50% compared to the previous cycle. It is a non-refundable co-financing program, without country quotas, in which direct competition between projects prevails.

As part of “May, month of Europe”, Adriana Freire Nogueira, regional director of Culture of the Algarve, participates in the debate table “Inspire & build: Europe for artists”, on the 18th of May, at the Municipal Museum in Faro, an initiative of the company Epopeia Brands, Municipality of Faro and Europe Direct Algarve, celebrating Culture in Europe.
