Supporting Algarve music is the main objective of Palco RUA, whose concerts start this Wednesday, April 19, at Doca de Faro. In total, eight projects from the region will pass through the stage.

The poster was presented this Tuesday, April 18, by the Academic Association of the University of the Algarve (AAUAlg), at a press conference at the Forum Algarve, in Faro.

The RUA Stage, which also incorporates the “Musica JA” contest, kicks off this Wednesday, the 19th, with concerts by Litos and Rack C. On Thursday, the 20th, performances will be by Pachá and Since.

On Friday, the 21st, the shows will be Two Step Flow and Os Marafados. Palco RUA closes on Saturday, the 22nd, with Marta Lima and Diogo Ribeiro.

The shows always start at 21:00 and end at 00:00.

In common, all these projects have the fact that they are from the Algarve.

The “Palco RUA” will also incorporate, this year, the “Musica JA” contest, promoted by the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth. In total, 28 applications were received – Rádio Universitária do Algarve chose these eight final projects.

Speaking to journalists, Fábio Zacarias, president of AAUAlg, explained that the fact that the Palco RUA concerts take place before the Academic Week aims to promote SA itself, but that the city «also feels the presence of students».

«There is a negative connotation and we also want to change it so that there is synergy and unity», he said.

All these projects will then perform on the secondary stage of the Academic Week of the Algarve, at the beginning of each night in “País das Maravilhas”.

The presentation of the RUA Stage poster was attended by Diogo Piçarra, who sponsors this initiative.

The farense musician, who will perform at the Academic Week on April 30, recalled the times when he also participated in music competitions promoted by the IPDJ.

«This RUA Stage can be a first step and is, without a doubt, an exhibition for many artists», he concluded.
