Registered unemployment drops 8,3% to «2nd lowest value ever» in February

The number of unemployed people registered at job centers dropped 8,3% (-28.619) in February year-on-year, to 315.645, the “second lowest ever” this month, the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security said today.

In chain, between January and December, there was a decrease of 6.442 people, representing a decrease of 2,0%, refers to the guardianship based on figures from the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP).

According to him, registered youth unemployment “was also the second lowest value, in that month, since there was a record, with a decrease of -4,5% (-1.660 young people) compared to February 2022 and a chain decrease of - 1,5%”.

“In February there were 34.854 young people unemployed and the percentage of youth unemployment compared to total unemployment was 11%”, he details.

According to the IEFP, the total of 315.645 unemployed registered in February in the employment services of the mainland and autonomous regions represents 66,3% of a total of 475.944 job applications.
