40 of the best bartenders in the world will compete in the International Flairbartending Competition, which will take place on the 15th and 16th of March, at Rua da Oura and at Bar Legends, on Avenida Sá Carneiro Sul, in Albufeira.
The event, promoted by Associação Barmen do Algarve, starts at 9 am next Wednesday, with the reception and parade of participants.
The contest itself starts at 14:00 and the first day of competition ends around 00:00.
On the 16th, Thursday, the tests start at 10:00 am. At 22:00 pm the final of the Contest begins, which ends with the awarding of the prizes, scheduled for midnight.
For José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, the International Flairbartending Competition «contributes significantly to projecting Albufeira as a place of excellence for the practice of the modality, enhancing the quality of professionals in the sector».
The mayor also emphasizes that, due to the fact that the event takes place in the middle of the low season, «its visibility and media impact, are a fundamental contribution to the dynamization of the local economy and to the reduction of seasonality».
The Mayor of Albufeira recalls that this is not the first time that the Municipality has supported this type of initiative by Associação Barmen do Algarve, based in the municipality, which has helped to project the name of Albufeira in national and international competitions on several occasions. international events, giving the example of the “Albufeira Cocktail Festival” and the participation of Algarve bartenders in the National Cocktails Contest, in Madeira, «with Jorge Coelho becoming National Champion for the fourth time and the second and third places to be conquered by Carlos Santos and Frederick Reizinho, respectively, all in the Flair Tending aspect».
As part of the event, there will be traffic cuts on Avenida Sá Carneiro Sul, between the traffic lights and the intersection with Rua Alexandre Herculano. The cut will be made, on the 15th, from 12:00 to 00:00; on the 16th, from 9:00 am to 00:00 am and on the 17th, the departure day of the delegations, from 00:00 am to 1:00 am.
