This Tuesday, January 17th, the São Paulo municipal executive delivered a vote of praise to André Afonso Dias, a trampoline athlete who represented the Portuguese team at the 36th Trampoline World Championship, where he reached second place by teams and seventh place individually in the double mini-trampoline modality.
At the age of 19, this young athlete from São Paulo is attending the first year of the Sport Sciences course at the Faculty of Human Motricity, in Lisbon, having started in trampoline gymnastics at the age of eight, at Ginástica Clube de Loulé.
Passed by the gymfaro Ginásio Clube and by the Educational and Sports Club of Faro and is currently a gymnast for the Associação de Pais e Amigos da Ginástica de Loulé (APGL), specializing in Double Mini Trampoline (DMT).
From the results of the youngster, the Municipality gives the title of National Champion of Beginners in 2014 of Mini-trampoline, National Youth Champion of 1st Division in 2016 of Synchronized Trampoline, National Champion of Juniors in 2018 of Synchronized Trampoline, National Senior Champion of 1st Division in 2021 in Double Mini Trampoline, 4th place in the 2022 Coimbra World Cup, representing the National Team, in Double Mini Trampoline and 1st Place in the Loulé Cup 2022 in Double Mini Trampoline.
At the international level, between 2014 and 2019, he participated in five world championships, with the modalities of Individual Trampoline, Synchronized Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline, from the United States of America to Japan, and even Russia, where he ranked 5th. Place in Synchronized Springboard, in 2018.
The most recent achievement was at the 36th Trampoline World Championship 2022, which took place in Sofia, Bulgaria, representing the National Team, reaching 2nd place by teams and 7th place individually, both in the Double Mini Trampoline.
