The 3 young Algarve cooks qualified for the National Professions Championship

National Championship of Professions / SkillsPortugal takes place from the 7th to the 12th of March, at the Portimão Arena

João Pedro Guerreiro da Silva, from the Hotel and Tourism School of Vila Real de Santo António, Luis António Santos Guerreiro, from the Laura Ayres School Group (Quarteira) and Filipa Tavares dos Santos, from the DUAL Center (Portimão) are the three young people from the Algarve qualified for the National Professions Championship, in the last stage of the regional selection of the Cooking profession, which took place from the 11th to the 13th of January, at the Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Algarve, in Faro.

In the regional selection test, in which 14 young people from the Algarve region participated, competitors had to make sauces, a consommé, a hot dish and a dessert.

The test was monitored and evaluated by a group of judges from the participating training entities and by the president of the jury of SkillsPortimão 2023 and international judge of WorldSkills Portugal, Miléne Nobre.

The three young people from the Algarve will now join nine others from across the country and demonstrate their technical skills in the kitchen profession, at the National Professionals Championship / SkillsPortugal, which takes place from 7 to 12 March, at the Portimão Arena.

Around 400 highly qualified young people will compete with each other in more than 50 professions, transforming Portimão into the Capital of Skills.

The young medalists in this national stage will be able to represent Portugal in the 8th edition of the European Professionals Championship, which will take place next September, in Gdansk, Poland, and in the 46th edition of the World Professionals Championship, which will take place in Lyon, France, in September 2024.
