With four hundred representatives from the partner network

Four hundred representatives of the network of partners formed a human chain of appeal for peace on the International Day of Educating Cities, which was signed in Loulé on 30 November.

This year, the theme was “City of Peace and Opportunities” and featured an intergenerational initiative.

The partners present in the construction of the word and frame were the Secondary School of Loulé (50 participants), Professional School of Alte (12 participants), Animation Center of Alte (30 participants), António Aleixo Foundation with the senior group (30 participants) , Senior University (20 participants), Group of Schools Padre João Coelho Cabanita with the participation of all the children of the 1st cycle of the school EB1nº 4 (180 participants), Group of Schools Engº Duarte Pacheco with the participation of pre-school students from EB1/JI Hortas de Santo António (70 participants).

In a note, the Câmara de Loulé recalls that the International Day of the Educating City is a celebration that aims to «create awareness of the importance of education in the broadest sense and intends to make known the commitment of local governments as generators of well-being being of the communities that inhabit the territory, their coexistence, well-being, prosperity and social cohesion».

The Portuguese Territorial Network of Educating Cities, of which the Municipality of Loulé has been a member since 2007, seeks to find, every year, an original way to mark the day and its concept embodied in the Charter of the International Association of Educating Cities.
