O Barão de São João – Walk & Art Fest, which took place from the 4th to the 6th of November, brought together 750 participants who sold out 45 of the 85 activities proposed in the program.

Participants «take advantage of the good weather to enjoy a complete program with activities for the whole family», such as hikes, themed tours, mountain biking routes, workshops, activities for children, wellness sessions, mural painting, viewing of documentary, concert and even a poetry soiree.

«The approximately 750 participants sold out 45 activities of the 85 proposals in the program, registering a total of around 1300 registrations, which means that many visitors took advantage of the diversity of the offer and signed up for more than one activity», he says. the organization of the festival that takes place in the interior of the municipality of Lagos.

This was the first post-pandemic edition, without any kind of health restrictions, «where the interaction between participants turned out to be one of the highlights of the event».

There was once again an increase in the participation of families as the program included several activities, from peddy-paper, treasure hunt, yoga for children, walk for parents and children, landart, activities on the importance of water, mural painting , among others.

This year the event had participants from 20 different nationalities (Portugal, Germany, Iran, United States of America, Czechia, England, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Slovakia, France, Belgium, Israel, Bulgaria, Brazil, Luxembourg, Spain and Poland).

The inaugural route of the artistic installation took place on the first day of the festival and was attended by the president of the Algarve Tourism Region João Fernandes.

«On the tour guided by the 16 local artists, it was possible to appreciate the 17 works designed especially for the festival and exhibited in various parts of the village and in the forest perimeter of Barão de São João. There was also time for a surprise performance by the Barão de São João choir, with the involvement of the local creative community being one of the most important characteristics for the success and differentiation of this event», considers the organization.

The artist Jorge Pereira continued the mural painting on the outside wall of the Cultural Center that started in the 2021 edition, where the
participants were able to collaborate again.

This year, some of the walks were marked by interventions by partner artists who, in addition to surprising the participants, reinforced the intimate connection between art and nature that this festival seeks to give expression to.

The Cultural Center bar was once again the meeting point and there was also, once again, a dedicated space for local artisans to exhibit their products.

Another of the novelties was the new space where activities took place every day, the Barão ConVida, located in the center of Barão de São João, which allowed a greater number of participants to circulate through the streets of the village.

For the year… there are already dates.

From the 3rd to the 5th of November, the festival will return.
