Let's “Eat with your eyes” ramen and cinema

Tickets cost 12,5 euros

It is a «culinary theatrical cinematographic laboratory» and not a show, but that does not detract from its interest. “Comer com os Olhos” is the most recent production of “Lavrar o Mar” that will put Aljezur, already this weekend, from 25th to 27th November, and Monchique, in December, making and eating Windows, with cinema in between.

This laboratory is, in the words of Giacomo Scalisi, programmer of “Lavrar o Mar”, the «first step» towards the show that will only take place next year.

The laboratory is also the result of an initiative that took place online, in times of a pandemic, called “Eating with your eyes – O Cinema à Mesa”.

«As it went well, we now wanted to do the same live, with the same logic», explained Giacomo, when Sul Informação.

For 2h30, spectators will see a film – “Tampopo”, by the Japanese director Jûzô Itami (1985).

The film tells the story of a cook and the most important dish in Japan: the ramen.

“People will see parts of the film, they will make ramen, prepare it and then eat it. The recipe, contained in the film, is full of peculiar ingredients», says the cultural programmer of “Lavrar o Mar”.

The choice of this film – made by Giacomo Scalisi and Rosário Pinheiro – is easily explained: it is a «wonderful» film.

«It talks about Asian culture, about this dish, but also about society and beyond. It is a film that also unravels the stereotypes of our society and its paradoxes», explained Giacomo.

For next year, after the laboratory, “Lavrar o Mar” promises a “multidisciplinary” show, in principle with text, but which will also be around ramen and this film.

In the municipality of Aljezur, the sessions of this “Eat with the Eyes” are scheduled for the 25th and 26th of November, at 19 pm, and on the 00th, Sunday, at 27:11 am. Always at Rogil's Folkloric Ranch.

In the neighboring municipality of Monchique, the laboratory will have exhibitions on the 2nd and 3rd of December, at 19 pm, and on the 00th, at 4 am, at the Casa do Povo in Alferce.
