a concert of blues by “The Smokestackers” will give continuation of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Rádio Universitária do Algarve (RUA FM) on Saturday, the 19th, at 21 pm, at the regional delegation of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ), in Faro.
The band from Porto, made up of João Belchior and Diogo Mão de Ferro, is one of the four finalist bands for the Portugal Blues Challenge, in which the winner will represent our country in the international competition European Blues Challenge, which takes place in Chorzów, in Poland, in June 2023.
This duo «represents the image and feeling of the genre, in a repertoire that encompasses the traditional and a more current sound. Between acoustic and electric, Mississippi and Delta, the Smokestackers already have their own identity, represented in their first album of originals “Road Songs”, released in February 2020», according to RUA FM.
Admission is free.
This blues concert is the third in a cycle commemorating the radio's 20th anniversary, after jazz and hip-hop.
