Water has already returned to the taps of Vale de Lousas

In the early hours of Sunday, the water in the taps started to run red.

The normal water supply in Vale de Lousas has already been restored, "after indication by the Health Delegate", announced this morning the Municipality of Silves.

The supply in that locality had been cut off for days, when, in the early hours of Sunday, the water from the taps started to come out red.

The population immediately contacted the Municipality, which, having no explanation for what happened, cut off the water and began investigations to determine the causes of its contamination.

In a statement, the Silvense Chamber now says that “diligences are underway promoted by the municipality, in collaboration with the Health Delegate and the Republican National Guard, to determine the causes of water contamination and imputation of responsibilities, taking into account the preliminary evidence collected hitherto, as well as for the prevention of future occurrences'.

The municipality regrets "the inconvenience caused to the population" of Vale de Lousas and thanks the Volunteer Fire Brigade of Silves "for the support provided" in the water supply.
