Tennis: Sisters Francisca and Matilde Jorge are in the doubles final of the Loulé Ladies Open

The game will not start before 13:30 pm

Sisters Francisca Jorge and Matilde Jorge returned, a year later, to qualify for the doubles final of the Loulé Ladies Open (Tennis) which is being played this Sunday, October 23rd.

First seeds Francisca Jorge and Matilde Jorge beat compatriots Raquel Álvaro and Amália Suciu 6-0 and 6-0 in a quarter-final match delayed due to bad weather.

Then, they benefited from the withdrawal of the following opponents, the South Korean Yeonwoo Ku and the Swedish Caijsa Wilda Hennemann, and qualified directly for the final, which will compete with Pei-Chi Lee and Fang-Hsien Wu. This will be the 10th decision of the year for the Guimarães as partners (6-3, with the most recent title being celebrated at The Campus Ladies Open in Quinta do Lago, a week ago), who played for the first time in a final side by side for exactly one year, in the first Loulé Ladies Open (runners-up).

All this took place at Vilamoura Tennis & Padel Academy, the stage that allowed for several meetings to be held after another rainy day in the city of Loulé, and after the eldest of the two sisters from Guimarães was removed in the quarter-finals of singles.

In a rematch of last week's match, which she won at The Campus, Francisca Jorge (321st in the WTA ranking) failed to achieve several opportunities in the first match against Frenchwoman Tessah Andrianjafitrimo (231st and second seed) and lost by 7-6(5) and 6-2.

The best Portuguese tennis player today led by 4-1, 5-3 with set point and still had a 5-2 lead in the tie-breaker, but failed to seize the opportunities and, already mentally worn out, failed to re-enter the discussion of the match with the start of the second match.

Andrianjafitrimo will face in the semi-finals the Ukrainian Katarina Zavatska (322nd), who beat the young sensation Mirra Andreeva (only 15 years old and already number 420 in the world) by 6-2 and 6-4.

In the opposite half of the table, the first seed of the tournament, Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (152nd WTA at 17 and considered one of the biggest promises of the women's circuit), began the day to complete the meeting with the Danish Olga Helmi (6 -1, 5-7 and 6-3) and ended up beating Sweden's Caijsa Wilda Hennemann (1-6, 6-3 and 6-4). At 22 pm, she was joined by former top 60 Cagla Buyukakcay (currently 332nd), who surpassed Jacqueline Cabaj Awad by 6-2, 3-6 and 7-6(4) and Eden Silva by 2 -6, 6-3 and 6-3.

On Sunday, which is expected to be the last day of this second Loulé Ladies Open, the day will start at 11:30 am with the two singles semi-finals simultaneously. Not before 13:30 pm, the doubles final will take place, with the presence of sisters Francisca Jorge and Matilde Jorge, while the singles decision will not take place before 16:00 pm.
