Navy coordinated 40 rescue actions in the Portuguese sea in August

Service efficiency rate is at 99%

The Navy, through the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centers of Lisbon, Ponta Delgada and the Funchal Subcentre, coordinated, during the month of August, 40 maritime search and rescue actions, which resulted in 26 lives saved.

​Since the beginning of the year, the Navy has coordinated 332 maritime search and rescue actions, resulting in a total of 377 lives saved.

By the end of August, 206 incidents had been recorded in the area corresponding to the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) in Lisbon, in which 232 people were rescued. This is the center that integrates the Alentejo and Algarve coasts.

In the area of ​​responsibility of the MRCC in Ponta Delgada, 107 search and rescue actions have been coordinated so far, with 129 people being rescued.

At the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Subcentre in Funchal, 19 actions have already been carried out, resulting in 16 lives saved.

The efficiency rate of the service is at 99%.
