Loulé hosts NEMO European Museums conference

This year’s theme will reflect on how museums can be “more innovative, agile and flexible in an increasingly dynamic and rapidly changing world”

The 30th conference of European Museums by NEMO – Network of European Museum Organisations, with the theme “Innovation begins within – Resilient museums in times of disruptionque”, will take place at Cineteatro Louletano, in Loulé, from 9 to 11 October.

This year's theme will reflect on how museums can be “more innovative, agile and flexible in an increasingly dynamic and rapidly changing world”.

The conference will keynote speaker Michael Peter Edson (USA), strategist and consultant working with technology, culture and global social change, with the participation of Maria Vlachou (Portugal), Acesso Cultura, Martin Zierold (Germany), Institute for Arts and Media Management, Merete Sanderhoff (Denmark), National Gallery of Denmark, Lodewijk Kuiper (Netherlands), Netherlands Museums Association and vice president of NEMO, Joana Monteiro (Portugal), Lisbon Museum, Caitlin Southwick (Netherlands), Ki Culture, Vasyl Rozhko (Ukraine) , Heritage Rescue Emergency Initiative (HERI), Inês Bettencourt da Câmara (Portugal), Mapa das Ideias, Olga Tykhonova (Austria/Ukraine), museumbooster, Clara Camacho (Portugal), Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage, Michael Arnold (Switzerland), Stapferhaus Lenzburg, Eva Koppen, Association of European Jewish Museums and treasurer of the NEMO Executive Board, as well as Alessandra Gariboldi, Fondazione Fitzcarraldo, Italy.

The organization of this conference is in charge of NEMO, Loulé Municipal Museum and General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, being co-financed by the European Union.
