Joana Schenker from the Algarve won 5th place in the fourth stage of the Bodyboard World Championship, which took place from 29 July to 7 August in the Maldives.
The athlete from Vila do Bispo was eliminated in the quarter finals by world champion Sari Ohara. The championship was won by Brazilian Isabela Sousa.
«My main objective was to reach the final, but I am satisfied with my 5th place and my performance. I felt I was surfing well, unfortunately I couldn't catch the wave I needed to get through to the semi-finals. I will now prepare for the next stage in South Africa, in 2 weeks time», revealed Joana Schenker, after the race.
The 5th stage of the world circuit will be held in the Onrus area, in Cape Town, South Africa.
