Woman rescued from the water on Barranco das Belharucas beach is in «very serious condition»

The woman lost consciousness while in the water and was brought ashore by locals.

A 45-year-old woman was rescued from the water in an unconscious state on Barranco das Belharucas beach, in Albufeira, and transported to the hospital “in a very serious condition”, today, the 17th, Sunday, around 12:30 pm.

According to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), the alert for the occurrence was received at 12:36 pm, with elements from the Albufeira Maritime Police Post and the “SeaWatch” project, as well as elements from the Albufeira Fire Department and of INEM.

«The victim, a woman about 45 years old, was rescued, unconscious, to the beach by people who were nearby, having been promptly assisted by nurses who were at the scene, until the arrival of the lifeguards of the adjacent beach and the elements of INEM, who started the resuscitation maneuvers, in collaboration with the elements of the “SeaWatch” Project», describes the AMN.

The victim was later removed from the beach by elements of the “SeaWatch” Project, using the Amarok vehicle, and placed in an ambulance from the Albufeira Fire Department “which transported her, in very serious condition, to a hospital unit”.
