They arrived by motorcycle, one by one, destined for a time of «great ambition and hope». The Farense squad was presented this Friday night, July 29, in the square outside the Municipal Market, in front of about 500 fans.

The surprise was prepared by Farense, in partnership with Motoclube de Faro, which gave ride to the 24 players who were introduced.

The Algarve team leaves for this season, when it will play in the II League, with 24 players. One of the novelties is the inclusion of midfielder Diogo Paulo, former athlete of Vitória de Guimarães B, in the main team.

Thus, the squad has Defendi, Ricardo Velho, Miguel Carvalho and Galvanito (goalkeeper), Talocha, Gonçalo Silva, Pedro Albino, Bandarra, Róbson, André Seruca, Abner and Vasco Oliveira (defenders), Marcos Paulo, Diogo Paulo, Jhon Velásquez, Vítor Gonçalves, Fabrício and Cláudio Falcão (midfielders) and Lucão, Marco Matias, Vasco Lopes, Harramiz, Ponde, Elves Baldé and Pedro Henrique (forwards).

In his speech, coach Vasco Faísca, born in Faro and who played in the youth teams of the Algarve emblem, pointed out the need to make the Estádio de São Luís a “hell”.

«I was lucky enough to grow up in a golden age of our São Luís, I saw the hell of São Luís, an audience pushing their team forward, to victory and I would also like these guys [the players] to see it», he said, in a very cheery speech.

The «greatest wish» of the Algarve coach, who has been guiding Farense since December last year, is that «all together, through the results, we can pass on this enthusiasm to you and see the real hell that takes the team forward again and intimidates opponents.

Without talking directly about the objective of climbing to the I Liga (where he was in 2020/2021), João Rodrigues, president of Farense, said that the team has “great ambition and hope that, this year, we will do very important things” .

“What we want is to put Farense where he has never been. It is something ambitious, which puts us in positions of great expectation, but we continue to think in the same way: we have built a group here, a fantastic team”, he added.

Captain Fabrício Isidoro, the last to arrive at the presentation, also promised «fight, commitment and dedication in every game, regardless of where we play».

“We will always do our best: you can be sure of that”, he concluded.

Farense's debut in the II Liga is scheduled for August 6, at 11:00 am, in a reception to the recently promoted Torrense.

Before, this Sunday, July 31, there is a preparation game, also in São Luís, with Wolverhampton (England), at 18:45.
