On the beaches of Melides and Carvalhal, in the municipality of Grândola, there are daily newspapers, magazines, fiction and non-fiction books available for free until 31 August, at the Praia Library.
There are around 250 options that can be consulted on the terrace of the library or requested to read on the beach.
«Promoting reading habits by the sea during vacation time is the main objective of this project, developed by the Municipality of Grândola in the early 90s, being one of the pioneer municipalities in the country to implement this cultural equipment on a beach», emphasizes the municipality. .
The Library on the Beach is open from Monday to Friday between 10:00 am and 18:00 pm, and is staffed by two young people on each of the beaches.
