«It can have consequences, such as fines, but we will be here to defend ourselves», guarantees Zé Amaro

The Motard Concentration is «going well, without incident», but, says the organization, it could be even better. Motoclube decided not to follow all government orders and keep all the camping areas that have always existed. To disobey, explains Zé Amaro, «sometimes serves people».

A lot of ink has been spilled over this 40th edition of the Motard Concentration which, almost at the last minute, was close to being canceled due to the risk of fire – the venue is in Vale das Almas, in a forested area.

A meeting, two days before the beginning of the event, in which the City Council, Government and Motoclube de Faro, decided that there would be Concentration, but with one drawback: the campsite would be moved from the usual area to another, adjacent, 'more urban' area.

Whoever visits the venue will, in fact, see thousands of bikers camped in this other area – close to the secretariat and also to housing. However, at the usual camping site, you can also see a lot of people.

In statements to the Sul Informação, Zé Amaro, president of Motoclube, criticized this decision of the Government and publicly assumed that the rules were disobeyed.

«The other side, despite being an urban area, has more forest density. For us, it was even a worse decision, taken by those who don't know the terrain", he considered.

The official explained that the Motoclube's decision to leave people in the area where they should have left was taken in the name of «well-being».

"It can have consequences, such as fines, but we will be here to defend ourselves", he guaranteed.

According to Zé Amaro, although the Concentration is «going well» and within «normality», the «created» difficulties harm «people and the very image of the organization».

The event ends tomorrow, Sunday, the 17th, with the traditional parade through the city of Faro.
