Tavira will celebrate the National Fisherman's Day this Tuesday, May 31, at 16:00 pm, in the Salão Nobre dos Paços do Concelho with a solemn session to recognize local fishermen.
«The celebration consists of the recognition and appreciation of a life dedicated to the sea», says the Municipality of Tavira in a statement.
Alberto Zacarias da Encarnação Fernandes (Cabanas de Tavira), José Liberto Pereira Campos (Luz de Tavira), Joaquim Ludovico Vieira (Santa Luzia) and João Hermínio Efigénia da Cruz (Tavira) are this year's winners.
This event aims to «praise the profession and recognize the importance that this sector represents in the local, regional and national economy».
