New project puts 38 volunteers to “Olhar Quarteira”

“Olhar Quarteira” is an initiative of the Parish Council of Quarteira and the Oficina Association, in partnership with Onesource and the support of the Loulé City Council.

The new project “Olhar Quarteira”, presented this Saturday, 2 April, will, in an initial phase, put 38 people to alert the Parish Council about possible occurrences in the public space.

This is an «innovative project that allows the active participation of the population in the development of a proximity service», explains the Parish Council of Quarteira.

The network of volunteer tutors was created, in this initial phase with 38 members, from now on these will be the first privileged interlocutors, between the population and the services of the Parish Council, and who will be responsible for monitoring, in the areas assigned to them, the state of urban cleanliness, maintenance of green spaces, sidewalks, recreation and leisure areas, among other situations.

“We talk daily about participatory democracy and this project is a great example of that. With the creation of this magnificent team of tutors and giving them the practical tools for this purpose, it will be faster and easier to flag and solve the problems that arise daily in the parish. People like to help, to be a part of. This is the best way to do it», says Telmo Pinto, president of the Parish Council of Quarteira,

According to Nelson Dias, from Associação Oficina, «this network of tutors covers the entire territory of the parish, thus allowing to decentralize and bring people closer to the services of the council. They will be our partners, in the signaling of occurrences in the public space».
