A concert by David Antunes & The Midnight Band, the Festival de Cantares ao Desafio/Improviso, gastronomy, viola campaniça and cante alentejano are some of the ingredients that make up the lineup for the 30th edition of the Festas de Maio – Feira do Interior do Concelho de Odemira, which will take place on the 29th and 30th of April and 1st of May, in Amoreiras-Gare.
The exhibition of handicrafts and regional products opens to the public at 15:30 pm on Friday, April 29, and the party will continue into the night, with the show by David Antunes & The Midnight Band, which starts at 00:30. Before there is a dance, with Ricardo Glória.
On Saturday, the 30th, the exhibitions open earlier, at 11:00 am, with musical entertainment throughout the day.
At 15:30 pm, the XVI Festival de Cantares ao Desafio/Improviso is scheduled, which will feature Cantares Ladrão do Sado, with Daniel Gamito and friends, Cante ao Baldão and Despique, with singers from the region, and Cantares ao Desafio do Minho, with Augusto Canário and friends.
From 22 pm, Pedro Mestre will present “Outros Cantes do Sul”, in concert.
The 1st of May, Sunday, begins with the “Festas de Maio” Walk, at 9:00 am, and at 10:00 am, there will be a Solemn Mass, in the Amoreiras-Gare Church.
The afternoon will be mostly dedicated to Cante Alentejano, but there will also be performances by the Rancho Folclórico da Casa do Povo da Conceição de Faroat 18 pm.
The event is organized by the Amoreiras-Gare Development Association.
