The posters Route of the First Circum-Navigation and Oceanic Giants of Portugal are two didactic tools within the scope of Ocean literacy that will be available in all schools in the country, announced today the Ministry of the Sea, which will cease to exist tomorrow after taking office. of the new government.
The initiative was carried out by the Mission Structure for the Commemorations of the V Centenary of the Circum-Navigation of Fernão de Magalhães 2019-2022, supervised by the Ministry of the Sea.
The Route of the First Circum-Navigation poster is a World Map centered on the Pacific Ocean, with a description of the route of the first circumnavigation voyage, with information on the key moments of the expedition, its protagonists and on various curiosities related to logistics. of the expedition.
The Ocean Giants of Portugal poster features digital illustrations of the large pelagic animals that inhabit Portugal's marine waters (mammals and fish, among others) with relevant bioecological information.
This is an initiative by the artist Les Gallagher, co-founder of the company Oceanic®, based in the Azores, which had the support of the Mission Structure for the Commemorations of the V Centenary of the Circum-Navegação de Fernão de Magalhães 2019-2022, for the distribution of this resource teaching by schools across the country.
