The Algarve parliamentarians underline «the broad consensus that exists around the need for this health equipment»

PS deputies elected by the constituency of Faro questioned this Wednesday, March 30, the Minister of Health about the construction, in this legislature, of the Central and University Hospital of the Algarve.

According to the PS, «Jamila Madeira, Luís Graça, Isabel Guerreiro, Francisco Oliveira and Tatiana Homem de Gouveia, replacing the still member of the previous Government Jorge Botelho, insisted, as promised in the electoral campaign, to make the new Central and University Hospital of the Algarve the first initiative while elected».

In the letter, the Socialist deputies recall “that the new Hospital Central do Algarve has been, for more than 20 years, a project that has been continually promised and constantly postponed, having even been classified by the Ministry of Health as the second priority of the country, right after the new All Saints Hospital».

The Algarve parliamentarians underline “the broad consensus that exists around the need for this health facility, whose tender for the award of the Public Private Partnership for its construction has been suspended since 2011, taking advantage of the beginning of the new legislature to find out if, after In the last election campaign, the Socialist Party has assumed in its national electoral commitment the construction of the new Hospital Central Universitário do Algarve, this will translate into an effective objective of the Ministry of Health and what is the timetable for its implementation».
