A Health in Dialogue Platform will sign four partnership protocols with the Municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Loulé and Tavira.
The protocols will help achieve the objectives of this platform: to combat the social problem that is health illiteracy, seen in the elderly in the Algarve.
«Continuing to establish and cement important partnerships for Espaço Saúde 360º Algarve is one of our missions, as we know the importance and real impact that this project has on the lives of the most vulnerable elderly population in the Algarve», says Jaime Franco Melancia, member of the board of Plataforma Saúde em Diálogo.
«This initiative to promote health literacy brings, in fact, numerous benefits to the elderly who will be able to better monitor their health status and illness, improve their psychological well-being, manage their medication and even understand how they can navigate through the system. Today we already have 290 beneficiaries in the project, but we want to continue to grow, as these partnerships are essential to reach more people and contribute to significant improvements in their quality of life», he adds.
On the 17th of February, Plataforma Saúde em Diálogo will sign the first partnership protocol of this year with the Chamber of Tavira.
The signing of this protocol is attended by the mayor Ana Paula Martins, the vice-president and councilor for social affairs, sport and health Eurico Palma and the head of the Social Action Division Dearkson Vieira.
On the 18th of February, the partnership protocol with the Chamber of Loulé will be signed, which will be attended by the mayor Vítor Aleixo and the vice-president and councilor for social affairs and health Ana Machado.
At both times, Plataforma Saúde em Diálogo will be represented by Ana Tenreiro and Jaime Franco Melancia from the Platform's management, Joana Viveiro, Platform's executive director, Ricardo Valente Santos, manager of the Espaço Saúde 360º Algarve Project and Débora Silva, technician at the project.
Later this year, the Platform plans to sign partnership protocols with the municipality of Castro Marim and Alcoutim to continue to drive the growth of Espaço Saúde 360º Algarve in the Algarve region.
Espaço Saúde 360º Algarve aims to combat the social problem of health illiteracy through a set of activities to promote health, well-being, disease prevention and a citizen-centered approach based on local partnerships and collaborations, such as such as municipalities, parishes, private social solidarity institutions, patient associations and other public and private entities in the social and health area.
This initiative, inspired by the macro guidelines and objectives defined in the Health Literacy Action Plan 2019-2021, of the General Health Directorate, is in line with the principles of social and territorial cohesion. It is supported by the Algarve Regional Operational Promotion Program (CRESCAlgarve) and by Portugal Inovação Social, through European Union Funds.
