Covid-19: Hospitalizations and active cases with a new drop in date with less than 10 thousand cases across the country

Deaths also dropped

The number of patients admitted to hospitals and active cases continue to decline in Portugal, according to the Covid-19 situation report, from the Directorate-General for Health, this Saturday, 26 February. Today, there are fewer 24-hour cases and deaths than were reported yesterday at the national level.

Across the country, there were 9851 new infections, compared to more than ten thousand yesterday, and 28 deaths, three fewer than this Friday.

Even so, in the Algarve and Alentejo there was a slight increase in the number of new cases, to 643 in the first case and to 624 in the Alentejo region.

With regard to deaths, the Algarve had four today, after not having registered any yesterday, while the Alentejo has one, less than the four reported in Friday's bulletin.

 

 

In hospitals across the country, there are now 123 fewer people hospitalized, with the total dropping to 1378. In intensive care units, the number of patients has risen to 101 (+3), still far from the red line of 255 beds of occupied ICUs.

The number of active cases declined today to 446.301 (-9932) and there were 22.645 people who recovered from the illness.

 

 

The risk matrix was updated yesterday and gives an index of transmissibility R(t) of 0,73, at national level, and of 0,71, taking into account only mainland Portugal.

The incidence is already at 2222,5 cases of infection per 100 thousand inhabitants, at the national level, and at 2157,4 cases, excluding the Autonomous Regions.
