José Gusmão assumes «clear defeat of the Left Bloc» in the Algarve

Left Bloc did not go beyond 5,76% and was the fourth most voted political force

José Gusmão, head of the Left Bloc (BE) list, assumes the "clear defeat" that the party had in the Algarve, in the Legislatives this Sunday, January 30, in which it lost the deputy it had elected.

In statements to the Sul Informação, José Gusmão said that BE had «two defined objectives», both of which had failed: «to have representation in the Algarve and to be able to prevent the extreme right from entering Parliament».

The truth is that the Enough, with 12,30%, he even elected Pedro Pinto.

The Left Bloc did not go beyond 5,76% and was the fourth most voted political force.

Despite «having done a great campaign», BE was already expecting «some electoral fall due to the political crisis caused by the PS».

«The analysis of what went wrong is something we will have to do, but there was a combination of several factors here, such as the misunderstanding of the reasons for the lead of the Budget and also the polls that gave a technical tie and motivated the last minute useful vote» , considered José Gusmão.

Now, the head of the list for the Algarve will return to the European Parliament, where he is a MEP, but guarantees that he will continue to "do political work" in the region.
