List B candidate wins elections with expressive victory in the most attended elections ever: “A new life begins for AHETA”

Hélder Martins was elected this Friday, January 21, president of AHETA – Associação dos Hotéis e Empreendimentos Turísticos do Algarve for the triennium 2022 – 2024, achieving an expressive victory in the most attended elections in the history of the association.

The candidate on the B list ran under the motto “For a comprehensive and renewed AHETA” and had the support of several illustrious national and regional tourism professionals, including the entrepreneur and father of Portuguese tourism André Jordan.

Hélder Martins, businessman and former president of the Algarve Tourism Region, has already reacted to his election, saying that “today begins a new life for AHETA”.

“We would like to thank all members and supporters for the trust placed in our project and guarantee that we will be a representative association, at a national and international level, of all hoteliers and entrepreneurs linked to tourism in the Algarve, from large hotel units to property owners. local accommodation. It is essential that AHETA becomes once again the main interlocutor of tourist companies in the Algarve with national entities and institutions”, he added.

In his first words as president of the association, the businessman stated that “one of our priorities is to increase the number of associates and create conditions for everyone's involvement. From the outset, constituting AHETA as a training entity, creating a Study Office and a General Council and developing areas of advice to associates and investors, which allow meeting the real needs of entrepreneurs”.

With the election of Hélder Martins, the long period of the presidency of Elider Viegas, who ran again, but was defeated.

In the B list Honor Committee, chaired by businessman André Jordan, the candidacy was supported by António Saraiva, Carlos Martins, Vítor Neto, Desidério Silva, Frederico Costa and Francisco Severino, among other entrepreneurs and managers linked to the tourism sector, hotel units, local accommodation entrepreneurs and regional figures from all over the Algarve.

Among the proposals presented in its electoral program, the intention to promote a review of the association's statutes, which allows an adaptation to the needs of the members to the current reality, and to increase the number of members in all sectors of activity besides the hotel industry stands out. , such as complementary accommodation, tourist real estate, golf, tourist entertainment and transport.

The program also covers a set of actions focused on supporting associates, including the development of a Study Office and Investor Advice areas, in addition to the organization of an annual AHETA congress and the establishment of AHETA as a training entity.
