Lagoa Académico Clube won 1st place by teams in the first competition of the Pure Swimming season, the Algarve Open Masters, which took place last weekend, December 11th and 12th, at the Albufeira Municipal Swimming Pools.
In the first competition of the pure swimming season, organized by the Algarve Swimming Association (Analgarve), Portinado and Aquático Clube de Silves also stood out, respectively, in 2nd and 3rd place. place.
The other clubs from the Algarve that participated in this competition were FC Ferreiras/AlgarExperience (4th), O2-Portimao (13th), Naval de Faro and Louletano / Loule Municipality (16th).
Other clubs from various regions of the country were also present in the competition, including Lisbon, Algés, Coimbra, Porto or Espinho, and even a Spanish club.
Lagoa Académico Clube won a total of 64 individual medals (34 Gold, 20 Silver and 10 Bronze), with four swimmers also receiving the award for Best Performance (in points), including Ana Reina (Master A), Susana Trindade (Master E), Santiago Rodriguez (Master B) and Paulo Sousa (Master E).
The club performed with 22 athletes (11 female and 11 male) in various age groups Master, trained by Nuno Machado.
Portinado, which reached the second place, in teams, was represented by eight athletes, namely Adriana Valentim, Ana Afonso, Filipa Castro, Inês Silva, Carlos Gomes, Hugo Amaral, José Faustino and Nelson Brito.
Inês Silva also received the award for Most Scored Female Athlete in step D, 40 – 44 years old.
The Aquatic Club de Silves, third place in the competition, was represented by swimmers Marco Pereira, Ricardo Correia, Hugo Viana, Teresa Pereira, Carlos Lopes, João Silva, Luís Sequeira, Hélder Nogueira, André Dias and Luís Rodrigues..
