To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the #PortugalContraAViolência campaign is launched today.

The campaign reinforces vigilance against domestic violence and alerts to the impacts of this crime not only on women, but also on children, being disseminated in national, regional and local media, movie theaters, means of transport, health posts of fuels, hypermarkets and ATM network,.

The objective, at a time when the constraints imposed by the COVID 19 pandemic also caused additional challenges, is to consolidate the sense of collective responsibility, transmit confidence to each woman, in her struggle, and to society in general, in the fight against this crime, as well. how to disseminate responses and support mechanisms to victims.

The National Support Network for Victims of Domestic Violence (RNAVVD), which currently covers 95% of the national territory, including specialized responses for assistance and reception, registered 97.172 assistances by the end of September.

The campaign, under the responsibility of the Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality, Rosa Monteiro, and the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality, has the collaboration of AMCV – Association of Women Against Violence, Associação Projeto Cria, Associação Ser Mulher, APAV – Portuguese Association for Victim Support, Plano I Association, Portuguese Association of Women Lawyers, Coolabora, Portuguese Red Cross, Women's Democratic Movement, XXI Century Women, UMAR – Alternative Women's Union and Response and Breaking the Silence Association .
