"A Terra Treme" this Friday to raise awareness about seismic risk

Exercise will last for one minute and will be done at 11:05 am

“A Terra Treme” once again for one minute this Friday morning, November 5, at 11:05 am, in a public exercise promoted at national level by the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) to remind the population, the communities schools and organizations about what to do before, during and after an earthquake.

The 9th edition of the Public Exercise for Awareness of Seismic Risk aims to "train the population to know how to act in the event of an earthquake, making citizens aware of the fact that they live in a society at risk", says ANEPC.

The chosen date, November 5, is World Tsunami Risk Awareness Day.

This is a national seismic risk awareness exercise promoted by ANEPC, in collaboration with various public and private entities, in particular the Ministry of Education, through the General Directorate of Education (DGE) and the General Directorate of School Establishments (DGEsTE).

The initiative makes known “the self-protection measures and behaviors to be adopted for the protection of each person and, thus, contribute to the growth of a society more aware of the risks and dangers to which it is subject”.

In addition to the school population, «whose adherence to the initiative has been expressive», ANEPC has sought to broaden the reflection and debate around the issue of seismic risk and participation in this exercise to other sectors of civil society.

ANEPC invites citizens and entities to sign up  and to participate as «demonstration of their personal/institutional commitment to the cause of safety and security, and as a form of support and public expression of their involvement in the exercise “A Terra Treme”», he concludes.
