Lagos attributes a vote of praise to actor Rúben Garcia

Last Wednesday, the Municipal Council of Lagos approved a vote of congratulations and praise for the actor from Lacobrigense Rúben Garcia.

«The path followed in the artistic world, namely in the areas of theater and cinema, as well as his recent nomination for “best actor” in the 2021 edition of the Golden Globes, due to his performance in the film “Listen”, were the reasons presentation of this proposal, which deserved unanimous vote of the entire municipal executive», explains the municipality.

Rúben Garcia was present and, according to the Câmara de Lagos, «he personally thanked this initiative of the municipality, which means the recognition of the talent, dedication, perseverance and attitude shown by this acclaimed actor, also constituting a stimulus for continuity, overcoming and success. of all their work'.

Rúben Garcia began his foray into culture and the world of arts in Lagos, first through Ballet, then through Theatre.

He initially attended the Teatro Experimental de Lagos and, later, the Escola Profissional de Teatro de Cascais and ACT – Escola de Atores.

He made his debut as a professional actor shortly thereafter, working, from an early age, with names such as Filipe La Féria and Mário Viegas.

He has also developed several projects in several national and international theater companies, but it is with the theater company A Barraca that he continues to collaborate today, highlighting his participation in numerous plays, including O Ano da Morte de Ricardo Reis, by José Saramago, staged by Hélder Mateus da Costa, which was exhibited at the Centro Cultural de Lagos.

At the same time, it also has projects in the field of cinema, highlighting the one that led to the recent nomination for the Golden Globes – the film “Listen”, by Ana Rocha de Sousa, a film that won four awards at the 77th Edition of the Venice Film Festival and O Vento Whistling on the Gruas, by Jeanne Waltz, which opens in 2022.

“Listen” will be shown on the 26th of August at the Rossio da Trindade Games Field, as part of the “Drive In Lagos” program, an initiative of the City Council and the Film Club of Faro, with free entry, but subject prior registration.
