Jorge Sampaio taken from Algarve to Lisbon by helicopter due to respiratory problems

Former President of the Republic is intubated

Former President of the Republic Jorge Sampaio, who was on vacation in the Algarve, was transported by helicopter to Lisbon this morning due to respiratory problems.

According to the Expresso, Jorge Sampaio was on vacation in Portimão and arrived in Lisbon, at the hospital where he is usually followed, «already intubated, around seven o'clock this morning».

The same newspaper says that the condition of Jorge Sampaio, aged 81, "inspires care, being ventilated with suspected pneumonia, but stable" and recalls that the former President of the Republic "has a clinical history with neurological, renal and cardiac problems" .
