According to the Firefighters of Portimão, the fire originated "from a fire that got out of control in the face of the intense wind that was felt in that rural area of the county, having been resolved in an initial attack, avoiding the triggering of a complex situation in the vicinity of several population agglomerates" .

The alert was received at 16:27 pm, and “the Fire Department of Portimão (pre-positioned in the Senhora do Verde Detachment) responded in accordance with the established concept of operation, in less than 1 minute, contributing to an initial fulminating attack and muscled, together with the Municipal Forestry Sapadores Team».

According to the fire department, "the immediate projection of these two combat vehicles, a tank vehicle and the officer on standby to the operations who are in charge at this stage of the occurrence, were crucial, given the arrival and control of the fire in less than 15 minutes, promoting fire suppression at an early stage'.

The Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Algarve mobilized two more firefighter teams from the adjacent municipalities (Monchique and Silves), but «they were eventually demobilized due to the rapid extinction, as well as the helicopter bomber and respective helitransported team that operates from the Air Resources Center (CMA)».
