The Municipality of Olhão, through its Fire Department, promoted an action to raise awareness of first aid and use of fire extinguishers and moisturizers on the Island of Armona, announced this Tuesday, June 8, the municipality.
The initiative, carried out in partnership with the Defense Association of Ilha da Armona and the Bem Viver Armona Association, was designed and carried out for the island's merchants, who were provided with a first-aid kit.
The action also included service workers and municipal companies that perform functions on the island.
At the same time, the municipality is reinforcing the Fire Fighting system implemented in Armona, with the installation of more cabinets with fire fighting equipment, hoses, fire extinguishers and switchgear throughout the island.
"The objective is to provide that territory with conditions that allow the local population to carry out a first intervention in the event of a fire or the need to administer first aid," says the Municipality of Olhão.
Taking into account the island's particularities, the Municipal Civil Protection calls "to make everyone aware of the importance of detaining means of first intervention in their homes", such as an extinguisher and a fire blanket that can be "determining to control or extinguish a fire until the firemen arrive'.
