The parliament today authorized the renewal of the state of emergency until March 31 to allow measures to contain Covid-19, with the support of PS, PSD, CDS-PP and PAN.

Non-attached deputy Cristina Rodrigues also voted in favour. The BE abstained again and PCP, PEV, Chega, Iniciativa Liberal and the non-registered deputy Joacine Katar Moreira maintained their vote against this legal framework, which allows suspending the exercise of some rights, freedoms and guarantees.

Today's vote was identical to that of the four previous renewals of the state of emergency, approved in parliament and decreed by the President of the Republic since 13 January.
