The Council of Ourique contracted the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC) to carry out screening tests to Covid-19 for the School Centre, where a positive case was identified, after still not having had answers from the health authorities.

These tests will start this Thursday, November 12th, «for kindergarten and 1st cycle students, duly authorized by their parents/guardians to assess the situation and reassure families and the entire community of Ourique», says the Chamber.

«Only after the results of the tests and the disinfection of the spaces of the Centro Escolar de Ourique will we be able to resume activities, with greater confidence and safety, but with the basic care of using the mask, social distances, respiratory etiquette and frequent hand washing/disinfection”, he adds.

This decision to proceed with the tests, on the part of the Chamber of Ourique, comes after there is still no response from the health authorities.

“The school is the municipality's logistical responsibility, the pedagogical part has other people in charge, but at no time was the City Council informed by the regional health authorities of the intention not to carry out tests and reopen the school in this context. With indirect knowledge of regional intentions, we insist on obtaining information about the tests and the situation», states the municipality.

«The Municipality of Ourique will continue to seek to build the answers that make sense and count on the contribution of each and every one», he concludes.
