The theater play “Turismo”, by director Tiago Correia, opens, this Saturday, September 12, at 21 pm, the new season of shows at Cine-Teatro Louletano.
This new creation by Tiago Correia, one of the most recognized directors of the new generation, for the company “A Turma” intends to explore the side effects of tourism and its influence on human relations – the much discussed gentrification, very observable in cities like Lisbon or Port.
“Turismo” is born from a process of transdisciplinary research and experimentation, developed between Porto, Loulé (a southern city where the director and director Francisco Lobo were in artistic residency in the summer of 2019) and Barcelona, with the emergence of a new dramaturgy born of premises shared either with professionals from other artistic and scientific areas or with multiple local interlocutors.
After a pre-start of the season on September 8, with a conversation, exhausted, around the triangle “tourism, art and pandemic” (in which the director Tiago Correia, photographer Filipe da Palma and the architect and university professor took part. Teresa Valente), «the presentation of this disturbing creation emphasizes what is changing in our cities», says Câmara de Loulé.
The play lasts approximately 120 minutes, without a break, and is intended for people over 14 years old.

This presentation is part of the “Implikação” cycle, created to celebrate the Cineteatro's 90th anniversary (1930-2020) and contribute to the production of critical thinking and reflection on the themes that make up its artistic programming for the 2020-2021 biennium and which are clearly current and relevant.
Cineteatro Louletano already bears the Clean & Safe seal awarded by Turismo de Portugal, assuming the commitment to comply with the hygiene and safety requirements of visitors and employees defined in accordance with the guidelines of the General Directorate of Health and which are also included in the Contingency Plan of the City Council of Loulé.
