7206 tests and re-tests have already been carried out in homes in the 16 municipalities of the Algarve

Testing of employees of daycare centers has also begun.

A total of 7048 tests and 158 re-tests have already been carried out, to users and employees of 88 nursing homes in 16 Algarve municipalities, by the teams from the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC).

The information is contained in the note sent by the District Civil Protection Committee to the newsrooms, with "data referring to strategic coordination actions in terms of prevention, preparation and response, in the face of the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) in the Algarve".

All tests for the elderly and nursing home workers carried out so far they were negative, with the exception of the home of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Boliqueime, where three users have died due to Covid-19.

This Monday, May 4th, as Sul Informação gave an account in reporting, testing for SARS-CoV-2 screening has also begun on all workers at the crèches that are expected to reopen on 18 May. In the Algarve, it is estimated that tests will be carried out in 116 crèches, corresponding to around 1675 workers.

The Municipal Civil Protection Command Posts are monitoring, in conjunction with Social Security, and through the social action services of the respective Municipal Chambers, the process of reopening the crèches and kindergartens.

Also according to the same note, the transportation of ABC medical teams continues to be provided by the Fire Department and the Portuguese Red Cross.
