946 tests were performed in the county, all with negative results for Covid-19

There are no positive cases of Covid-19 among users and professionals of nursing homes in Faro, revealed, this afternoon, the City Council. According to the municipality, 946 tests have already been carried out by teams from the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC) in the municipality.

In this operation, carried out within the scope of the Algarve Covid+70 nursing homes testing program, coordinated by the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command (CREPC) of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) in conjunction with the Municipal Service of Civil Protection (SMPC) of the City Council of Faro and with the support of Firefighters Sapadores de Faro and the Voluntary Fire Department of Faro, between April 4th and May 2nd, tests were carried out in 12 institutions in the county, equivalent to 14 pieces of equipment.

Tests were carried out at the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Faro, in the Home of the Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa of Calcutta, in the Home for the Elderly “Semear Afetos”, in the Wellness Center – Home for the Elderly of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, in the Senior Residence José Ricardo Candeias Neto, in the Home for Recovery Convalescence and Seniors – Monte da Palhagueira, at the “Falésia Azul” Elderly Home, at the Casa de Repouso de Faro, at the Cultural and Social Center of the Parish of São Martinho de Estoi, at the Lar Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Faro – Torre Natal, at the Rest Home “O Faraó”, at the Rest Home “Quinta da Bemposta”, at APPC and AMERA.

The ABC medical teams responsible for this collection and analysis process screened 529 users and 417 employees of ERPI's, all of which were negative.

According to the municipality, "after this phase, tests will also be carried out on other social institutions in the municipality."

To minimize the possibility of contagion with the senior community of homes, as well as employees of these facilities, the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Faro it also delivered Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (about 3600 masks and protective visors) for the noncelho's Homes and social equipment.

The Municipality of Faro, in the note sent to the newsrooms, «welcomes the results known so far, but considers it necessary for everyone to remain alert, bearing in mind that we are still under threat from a very contagious and aggressive virus, particularly for the elderly and sick. which, at this stage, must be kept safe and secure'.
