Today there are no new cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, while those recovered are increasing

There were also no more deaths to register

«There are no new confirmed cases of Covid-19» in the Algarve, since yesterday, thus maintaining the 331 cases, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the outbreak, announced today the regional Health delegate, at the press conference of the District Civil Protection , at its headquarters in Loulé.

Ana Cristina Guerreiro added another good news: there are already 141 patients recovered from Covid-19, in the Algarve region, 13 more than yesterday.

Paulo Morgado, president of the Regional Health Administration, also present at the press conference, said that «42,5% of patients in the Algarve have recovered», which is the highest recovery rate in the country.

Of the 177 cases that remain active, only 15 people are admitted to hospitals in the Algarve, of which 3 are in the Intensive Care Unit.

The number of deaths (13) also remained the same, added the person responsible. There are also 261 people under surveillance by the health authorities.

The regional Health delegate stressed that the "greatest concern" continues to be the Home of Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Boliqueime, where they returned yesterday, after disinfection of the 1st floor, users with negative analyzes who were temporarily accommodated in a hotel in Vilamoura.

In this Home, there are still «12 positive residents», 2 of whom are in the hospital in Faro. There are also "11 positive employees, who are at home, making their recovery".

As for the groups of migrant workers, Ana Cristina Guerreiro revealed that they "have been recovering, are being discharged and are returning to their current homes", as the situation among them is also under control.

In Tavira, of the 19 foreign workers housed in the Santo Estêvão ZAP, there are still “16 positive, but only one is symptomatic”. The rest are "on their way".

In Albufeira, there are no more positive cases among migrants, with only "three people relocated in a hotel to make their recovery".

In Silves, more specifically in Armação de Pêra, «there were also several highs throughout the week».

Summarizing the situation in the Algarve, the regional Health delegate said that "at the moment, it is much calmer". But, with still active cases, it is necessary to maintain all care, "we are not exactly zero", he concluded.

The president of ARS Algarve, for his part, added that there are still "20 health professionals infected" with Covid-19 in the region, but assured that "none inspires care", even saying that "some of them will become recovered" in the next days.

Paulo Morgado expressed, however, "fear and concern for the future", due to the progressive lack of confidence that will begin next Monday, May 4th.

Admitting the “risk of having a second wave of Covid-19”, the official expressed his conviction that “we are now much more prepared as a society and as a National Health Service”.
