School of Conception of Faro receives 13 thousand euros to prevent childhood obesity

The JI/EB1 School of Conceição de Faro will receive 13 thousand euros from the Mission Continente 2019/20 donation for its “Sufficient Food, Excellent Health” project.

The initiative of the school in the municipality of Faro was one of the ten award-winning programs for preventing and combating childhood obesity.

With the project presented, JI/EB1 da Conceição «intends to involve the entire school community in promoting healthy habits, through the involvement of students in sports, with sports competitions, sessions for students and guardians with a nutritionist provided by Health Center of Faro, workshops with a chef for parents, students and the school's cook», revealed the promoters of this competition.

 



 

Mission Continente «received 164 applications from national non-profit, private or public entities with projects in the field of the prevention of Childhood Obesity, which were subject to an online vote and evaluated by a specialized jury, depending on the relevance and impact of each project among the youngest”.

The values ​​attributed to each of the projects vary between 10 thousand and 22 thousand euros and “will allow to put into practice ideas to promote healthy habits through training and awareness actions, workshops, showcookings and promotion of the importance of physical exercise with the children, parents and school community».

After the distribution of donations to each winning project, a follow-up plan is carried out to help implement the selected projects through training workshops, visits, continuous follow-up and technical support.
