The number of Covid-19 cases increased to 350 in the Algarve, two more than yesterday, and to 238 in Alentejo, one more than on Monday, according to the epidemiological bulletin of today, 12 May, of the Directorate- General of Health (DGS). Across the country, there are 27.913 confirmed cases, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, and 1163 deaths, 19 more than yesterday, an increase greater than that seen in previous days. Those recovered rose to 3013.
Since yesterday, the situation in the Algarve and Alentejo has not changed substantially – in addition to the reduced number of new cases, there are no more deaths to regret, with the 14 deaths remaining in the Algarve, one of which from another elderly woman at Boliqueime's home, reported yesterday, and a single one in Alentejo.
As for the 19 deaths nationwide, they occurred in the North (9), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (6), Center (3) and Azores (1) regions.
On the other hand, there is a substantial increase in the number of recoveries, from 2549 reported yesterday to 3013 today (plus 464).
As for the number of confirmed cases, it increased from 27.679 to 27.913 (plus 234).
By region, this is the distribution of the number of infected, in accumulated numbers since the beginning of the pandemic: North (16.053), Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (7494), Center (3553), Algarve (350), Alentejo (238), Azores (135) and Madeira (90).
Today's bulletin also reports that there are 709 hospitalized people (96 fewer), 113 of them in intensive care (plus one).
There are, at this moment, 2719 citizens awaiting laboratory results, while another 27.054 are contacts under surveillance by the health authorities.
As of January 1, the total number of suspected cases was 279.993, but 249.301 of those have not been confirmed.
