Covid-19: Algarve and Alentejo no longer have new cases reported, in the country there are only 92 more

Data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health this Sunday, May 3rd

The Algarve continues to have the same 331 cases of Covid-19 in the last three days, while the Alentejo also registers, for the second consecutive day, the 218 reported cases, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) of today, May 3rd, which has just been released.

On a day in which the presentation of data was delayed by more than two hours, the Minister of Health explained, at the press conference, that the delay was due to "the need that we had to reconfirm all the numbers".

At national level, there are today 25282 confirmed cases, that is, 92 more than yesterday, which translates into a slight increase of 0,4%. However, Minister Marta Temido warned that these are "numbers to be read with prudence", taking into account the update that had been made yesterday, due to the duplication of reporting of some cases detected in the North region.

On the other hand, and although tests continue to be carried out over the long weekend, there may be some delay in reporting the data resulting from these analyses, which could be reflected in tomorrow's numbers, Monday.

Since yesterday, there are 20 more deaths to mourn, bringing the total number of deaths to 1.043. In the Algarve and Alentejo, there were, once again, no deaths.

The DGS daily bulletin also indicates that there is one more person hospitalized, increasing to 856 the number of hospitalized, of which 144 are in intensive care (less 6).

There are already 1.689 cases of recovery from the disease (18 more people since yesterday).

There are currently 3691 citizens awaiting laboratory results, while another 25.324 are in surveillance contact with the health authorities.

As of January 1, the total number of suspected cases was 252.889, but 223.916 of those have not been confirmed.

According to the map released by the DGS, only in the Center and in the North there were new cases registered: 3.426 confirmations in the Center and more than 15.000 (now, after the number went backwards yesterday) in the North – 15.021.

In the entire region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley there were no new cases, judging by the bulletin released this Sunday: there are 6.047. The same happened in Alentejo (218), Algarve (331), Azores (132) and Madeira (86).
