Covid-19's eighth casualty in the Algarve was an Italian residing in Quarteira, the first confirmed case of infection in the municipality of Loulé, confirmed to Sul Informação Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé.
The man who died was diagnosed with Covid-19 on March 14, making it the seventh known case in the Algarve region.
However, of the 16 new cases of infected with the new coronavirus in the Algarve that appear in the most recent daily bulletin of the General Directorate of Health, our newspaper found out from Luís Encaranação, Mayor of Lagoa, the number of cases in this council rose to 7.
"In the last 24 hours, there have been two more cases," said the mayor, adding that they are "people from the community."
The demographic characterization of the DGS in today's bulletin, which reveals the cases that it has already been possible to link to the different counties of the country, does not bring news in relation to the Algarve. In this list, as the General Directorate of Health points out, not all confirmed cases are counted.
