Popular Marches from Quarteira do not go out on the streets this year

Marches back to 2021

The traditional parades of the Popular Marches of Quarteira, which would take place on the 12th, 23rd and 28th of June, were canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the nights of Santo António (12 June), São João (23 June) and São Pedro (28 June), «Avenida Infante Sagres will not have the usual frenzy this year of hundreds of marchers, representing the main streets of the city. city, to show to a large audience all their locality and love for their land, as well as the creativity evident in the choreographies or in the making of costumes».

This "decision is related to the new rules of mandatory distance that could not be complied with, given the crowd that usually gathers on the Calçadão to watch the parade", explains the municipality.

Those responsible for APROMAR – Associação Promotora dos Santos Populares consider that canceling the parade is the right decision at a time when public health takes precedence over all other interests.

Thus, only in 2021 will the marches go out again for three days of entertainment in Quarteira.
