Loulé Hospital is already doing tests for immunity to Covid-19

Tests cost 43 euros

The Loulé Hospital has already started to make available immunity tests to Covid-19, which allow anyone to assess whether they have already been infected with the new coronavirus without having had clinical manifestations of the disease.

Each serological test for anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies costs 43 euros.

"The performance of serological tests is important as it allows us to know the prevalence of the disease in the population, identifying individuals who have developed antibodies to fight Covid-19", defends the Hospital de Loulé.

The tests are carried out in the facilities of this private health unit, which resulted from the restoration of the old Santa Casa da Misericórdia hospital in Loulé, every day, between 10:00 and 12:00, in partnership with SYNLAB. The result “will be delivered via email 3 working days after the test has been carried out”.

Serological tests, considers the Hospital de Loulé, may be indicated for people who have had Covid-19, "to assess the immune response", for those who have contacted with confirmed cases or who had symptoms associated with Covid-19 and did not undergo the test and for healthcare professionals.

This type of test is also useful to know the prevalence of antibodies in the population and to assess their possible level of immunity.
