Paulo Betti brings his “Authorized Autobiography” to Teatro das Figuras

Paulo Betti was known for the roles he played in soap operas such as “Tieta”, “Pedra sobre Pedra”, “A Indomada” and “Império”

The show “Autobiografia Autorizada”, by Paulo Betti, will take the stage at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, on March 6th, at 21 pm.

In this show, the Brazilian actor, who became known in Portugal for the roles he played in TV Globo soap operas, including “Tieta”, “Pedra sobre Pedra”, “A Indomada” and “Império”, presents «a monologue telling the his story before becoming an actor and meeting fame” and “remembers his childhood and youth in the interior of São Paulo”.

«Coming from a rural world, in which his grandfather, an Italian immigrant worked half-heartedly for a black farmer, Paulo Betti, the youngest and early son of an illiterate peasant mother of 15 and a schizophrenic father, against all odds, achieves a career of huge national and international success. In this personal and intimate testimony, punctuated by humor, he immerses himself in the lives of his parents, grandparents and many other unusual characters and presents us with an extraordinary spectacle that takes us from drama to laughter on a journey to deep Brazil», describes Casa da Língua Portuguesa, which produces the show in Portugal.

The show, which has already received awards in Brazil, «oscillates between emotion and humour, always maintaining the dynamism in the way the protagonist relives and shares his memories. It makes the audience laugh and cry, embarking on this “journey to the past” not only as a spectator, but also as an “adventure companion” of Paulo Betti».

Paulo Betti is the author of the text and the interpreter of this play that he directs, together with Rafael Ponzi.
